Embeds and icons

Some content comes from another service: a map, a video, a booking form, a chart. An embed places that content inside your page.

Last updated

Icons are small inline symbols. They are useful for menus, contact details, and feature lists.

Add an embed

Add an Embed block. Paste the code from the service, then save. The editor shows a live preview.

Common uses:

  • YouTube or Vimeo videos.

  • Google Maps.

  • Booking and scheduling widgets.

  • Newsletter forms.

  • Charts and dashboards.

  • A small custom HTML snippet.

Use the Fit content height option when the embedded content changes height, such as a form that reveals more fields. Otherwise, the embed keeps a fixed height and may scroll inside its box.

YouTube

Paste a YouTube link or the embed code. Remake shows a lightweight player with the video thumbnail, so the page does not load the full YouTube player until someone presses play.

This keeps the page faster than a standard YouTube embed.

Sandboxing

Embeds run in an isolated frame. Scripts, forms, and popups are allowed inside the frame, but the embedded page cannot reach into the rest of your site.

That is a safety boundary, not a guarantee that the embedded service is trustworthy. Only paste code from a source you trust.

When an embed does not work

Some sites refuse to be embedded. They may show a blank box or an error inside the frame. This is controlled by the other site, not by Remake.

If that happens:

  • Use the service's official embed code instead of its normal page URL.

  • Check whether the service offers a share or embed option.

  • Use a screenshot with a link as a fallback.

Icons

Icons are inserted with a typed trigger, not from the slash menu.

Type : at the start of a block or after a space, then at least one letter. For example, :heart or :arrow. A grid of icons opens. Keep typing to search Iconify, use the arrow keys, and press Enter to insert one.

The icon is inline, so it sits in the text like a character. By default, it matches the size and color of the surrounding text. It works well before a label, inside a button, or at the end of a sentence.

Menu icons use their own picker in the Menu tab, not the colon trigger.

Keep icons familiar. A cart, a phone, and an envelope are easy to recognize. An abstract symbol with no label is not.

Read Slash commands and hidden shortcuts for the icon grid and the other typed triggers.

Dividers

A Divider block draws a horizontal line. Use it to separate sections when spacing alone is not enough. Most pages do not need many dividers; space is usually a cleaner separator.

Custom code for the whole site

The Embed block is for one piece of content. If you need code on every page, such as an analytics tag or a verification meta tag, use the custom head or body code in Project settings.

Do not put site-wide code in an embed. It would only run on that page.

A simple starting recipe

For a contact page:

  1. Add a map embed with the business address.

  2. Add a phone number with a phone icon.

  3. Add an email address with an envelope icon.

  4. Add a contact form.

  5. Check the map and form on mobile.

For a video section:

  1. Add a section with a short heading.

  2. Add a YouTube embed.

  3. Keep the section width large enough for the video.

  4. Check that the player loads only after someone presses play.

Remake

A website builder that works like a document. CMS, forms and EU hosting included.
